Roses are Red.

Hello!
Whether you actually have a date or heading out with friends, all things Valentine’s Day related will be pretty difficult to avoid this Thursday! So in preparation, I thought I would do a little round up of my favourite red lipsticks which I think would be perfect for whatever you have planned.

Lacura Beauty Lipstick in Classic Red (review here) - £1.99 - unfortunately this range isn't available on the internet but it's available in all Aldi stores, and there are quite a few dotted around! Really great if you are on a budget.

Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Really Red - £7.49 - available at Boots. This is a really great, long-lasting lipstick. The colour is really deep so if you are into your red lipsticks this is a must-have!

MUA Lipstick in shade 1 - £1.00 - available here. This is again a great lipstick if you are on a budget. The colour is more of a purpley-red which is a nob towards the plum lipstick trend. 100% recommend, and I look forward to trying the different shades in the collection.

And finally, Revlon Lip Butter in Macaroon - £7.99 - available here. There has been so much hype about these on different blogs recently so I'm sure everyone is familiar! Not strictly speaking a lipstick but I love it so I added it into the round up. I think this would be a great option if you aren't usually a lipstick wearer, or you are suffering from dry lips due to the cold weather/ central heating combo.

As always, I would recommend that you apply lip liner around your lip line and then fill in your lips before applying lipstick - this well help it last longer. Also, Lipcote is amazingggg, but it only works with matte or quite dry lipstick formulae.

I am single this year so no hot date for me - I'm staying in and watching Dexter with my friends. What are your plans for Valentine's Day?

  1. I currently have that MUA lipstick coming in the post :) Some people in the reviews on Superdrug said that there was a lip liner when you pop off the base of the lipstick. Not sure if that is true or not, but you could look.

My plans for Valentines day though are to have a very nice night in with my laptop.

    1. Which shade did you get? haha I've been fiddling with my lipstick for like 10mins now trying to figure that out, maybe there's a new one that has a lip liner? I got mine a few months ago...
That sounds nice, maybe get a few blog posts written :). xxx

    2. Erm I've got shade 1, 15, 6 and 13 coming. You supposedly twist the base off, I'm not sure if this is true or if people are just lying if I'm honest.
Yeah, I'm definitely going to use the spare time to write some posts. I have a new post which I hope will be up sometime tomorrow :)

    3. Ohh you ordered a few! Let me know if you post about them, would love to see some swatches. Haha really? I definitely can't do that with mine, wish I could. Let me know if it works :). I'm following you on GFC so will definitely keep an eye out for tomorrow's post, and all the ones you get written on Thursday! haha xxx

    4. I finally got my MUA lipsticks today and I've figured where the lip liner is hidden.

If you twist the bottom of the lipstick anti-clockwise the plastic base (that shows the colour of the lipstick) pops off, and then there is a little pot of the lipstick. So I guess you use that with a lip liner brush :)

    5. I can't believe I only just figured this out! I did have to use some pliers to get the bottom off though, it was reaaaaaaally stiff but yes there is a little pot :) really useful! Thanks xxx

  2. Hi Alexandra! Sorry that I'm only just getting round to checking out your blog - but I'm here now! You've got some really great content here. I love the MUA lipstick on this post the best :) my other half lives in Bristol so I'll be spending V Day working! :( Re guest posting - I was thinking you could do a 'Top Ten Current Beauty Products' or something like that on mine? And I could do a fashion trend-based one on yours? Following you now via GFC and hopefully speak to you soon!

    1. That's alright! Yep I love the MUA lipsticks, need to get it in a few more colours I think seeing as it's so cheap haha. Aww gutted about working on Valentine's Day, where do you work? Yesss I love that idea for a post - it also fits in with another project I'm working for at the moment so I can do research for both at the same time ;) two birds, one stone. And I would love a fashion trend post on mine, as you can see my fashion content is lacking a bit :) I'm following you on GFC already babe, love your blog! xxx
